President Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address, in which he called for greater fairness, brought to mind a much more rousing speech in the the 2003 Chris Rock movie Head of State in which Rock plays someone who somehow gets elected to the White House.
As I point out in this post on my personal blog, Rock was not cinema’s first black President. In 1972 James Earl Jones – who went on to provide the voice, if not the body, for Darth Vader in the Star Wars films – had that honour.
